This incredibly intricate Sunface pendant was handmade by Navajo Fred Charley to exemplify Native American culture and a Sunface Kachina from the Hopi tribe. Like it sounds, this kachina represents the warmth, spirit and vitality of the sun.
Pixie turquoise is considered an obscure turquoise. By proximity to the Fox, Orvil Jack and Carico lake mines near Indian Creek, the Pixie Mine produced vibrant and unique shades of green. The mine laid idle for 20 years before it was buried by a large gold mining company. The location produced a very limited quantity of high grade turquoise, and it is therefore considered highly collectible. This specific stone was mined over 30 years ago and vaulted since then. Freddy used this rare, natural turquoise to create this pendant just this year.
Fred completes his work of art with fine details such as stamped feather detailing, hand-cut negative space, and 3D shapes.
