This larger-than-life, exceptionally rare pendant was handmade by Navajo Tsosie White to exemplify a clean and captivating repoussé design. Repoussé is a metalworking technique in which metal is shaped by hammering from the reverse side to create a design in low relief. Tsosie created this piece with sterling silver and a gorgeous, gem grade (highest grade) Bisbee turquoise stone.
The Bisbee mine produces deep, rich blue colors and a dark chocolate-brown or reddish-brown matrix, often with a smoky spiderweb pattern. Mining stopped in the 1970s, making specimins very scarce and collectible. The cabochon in this pendant is much larger than most any Bisbee stone you'll find on the market today.
Finished with a hand-cut perimeter, detailed bale, and twistwire around its stone for added interest.
