This incredibly intricate Sunface pendant was handmade by Navajo Fred Charley to exemplify Native American culture and a Sunface Kachina from the Hopi tribe. Like it sounds, this kachina represents the warmth, spirit and vitality of the sun.
Dragonfly turquoise is an obscure mine that was situated near the Number 8 turquoise mine, so much of its colors and patterns resemble Number 8 turquoise, though it was technically a separate mine. This turquoise was mined in the 1990s and did not produce a large amount of turquoise, so it is considered extremely rare. The mine has been closed for years now, and this specific stone was mined over 25 years ago and vaulted since then. Freddy used this rare, natural turquoise to create this pendant just this year.
Fred completes his work of art with fine details such as stamped feather detailing, hand-cut negative space, and 3D shapes.
